PEHRO did not begin with a business plan. It began with a smaller, more stubborn idea: that the jewellery someone reaches for every single day — not just on the occasions that call for it — deserved to be made with real materials, real care, and none of the shortcuts that usually come with "affordable."
PEHRO started in Mumbai out of a quiet but persistent frustration. As a fashion photographer, I spent years behind the camera lens, capturing the final, polished versions of other brands. But during those long hours on set, handling garments and looking closely at the jewellery under studio lights, I noticed a constant gap. The premium, high-quality pieces with beautiful finishes were locked behind inaccessible luxury markups, while the affordable options felt hollow, lacked character, and quickly lost their shine. I wanted to create something that bridged those two worlds—an authentic Indo-Western line that combined structural modern design with the enduring quality of 925 sterling silver and brilliant gold plating. PEHRO was born to move past the mass-produced noise, focusing instead on honest materials, fair value, and the dedicated skill of local Indian artisans. PEHRO is inspired by a word commonly used across parts of North India. In local dialects, “Pehro” means “wear,” closely related to the Hindi word “Pehno” (पहनो)—an invitation to wear something with confidence and ease.
That simple idea became the foundation of our brand.

Why We Choose 925 Sterling Silver
We could have built PEHRO around cheaper alloys and higher margins. We didn't, for a simple reason: jewellery worn daily needs to actually hold up to daily life, and there's no substitute for genuine material.
925 sterling silver — 92.5% pure silver, alloyed for real strength — gives us something base metals can't: a piece that keeps its structure, its shine, and its value over years of actual wear, not display-case wear. Finished with rhodium plating, it's also markedly gentler on sensitive skin than the nickel-heavy metals common in fast fashion jewellery.
